India Launches Electric Mobility Index to Track EV Progress

NITI Aayog has launched the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI), a pioneering tool designed to track and benchmark the progress of Indian States and Union Territories in achieving their electric mobility goals. The index evaluates states based on 16 indicators across three core themes: Transport Electrification Progress, Charging Infrastructure Readiness, and EV Research and Innovation Status. It aims to foster competition, inform decision-making, and promote best practices in the transition to electric vehicles, supporting India's goal of reducing transport emissions and achieving net-zero by 2070.
