India Launches First End-to-End OSAT Pilot Line Facility in Gujarat

The Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated one of India's first end-to-end Semiconductor OSAT Pilot Line Facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in India's semiconductor journey. The facility aims to enhance semiconductor design, manufacturing, and talent development, addressing a projected global shortfall of one million semiconductor professionals by 2032. The government has partnered with 270 universities to empower students with advanced semiconductor design tools, leading to the successful fabrication of 20 student-designed chips. CG Semi, the facility's operator, is investing over ₹7,600 crore to develop two state-of-the-art facilities, generating thousands of jobs and supporting India's goal of becoming a global semiconductor hub.
