India Launches Gyan Bharatam Mission for Manuscript Preservation

The Ministry of Culture of the Government of India has launched the Gyan Bharatam initiative, aiming to preserve, digitize and provide global access to India's manuscript heritage. Allocating Rs.491.66 crore for 2025-2031, the initiative focuses on survey and cataloguing, conservation, digitization, translation, and outreach efforts. The project has digitized over 7.5 lakh manuscripts, with thousands available online. It plans to develop nationwide Cluster Centers and Independent Centers for effective implementation.
