India Launches Mission Mausam to Enhance Climate Preparedness

The Government of India has launched Mission Mausam under the Ministry of Earth Sciences to bolster the country's climate preparedness. This initiative aims to create a 'weather-ready and climate-smart' framework to mitigate climate change impacts and enhance community resilience. Key components include improving early warning systems, enhancing weather forecasts, and establishing the National Framework of Climate Service (NFCS). The initiative also features the Bharat Forecasting System, the world's highest-resolution operational weather model, and the Deep Ocean Mission to explore underwater mineral resources. These efforts are expected to significantly improve India's climate forecasting and disaster management capabilities.
