India Launches National Mission on Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture

The Government of India has introduced two initiatives: the District Development Kisan Yojana (DDKY) and the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) to enhance agricultural sustainability, productivity, and farmer welfare. Approved in 2024 with a budget of ₹2481 crore, NMNF promotes natural farming to improve soil health, reduce input costs, and ensure food safety through scientific methods. The mission supports approximately 18,786 clusters, covering 8.80 lakh hectares and motivating 18.19 lakh farmers. This effort is backed by resource centers and research programs to optimize natural farming practices.
