India Launches National Technology Readiness Assessment Framework (NTRAF)

The Indian Government, led by Principal Scientific Adviser Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, has introduced the National Technology Readiness Assessment Framework (NTRAF) to standardize the evaluation of technology maturity in India. Developed in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the framework aims to bridge the gap between laboratory-level research and commercial deployment by providing a structured, evidence-based methodology, thus facilitating better allocation of financial resources and fostering private investment. Open for public consultation until January 31, 2026, NTRAF adopts global best practices to suit the Indian R&D ecosystem, offering sector-specific guidelines and self-assessment tools to enhance project readiness and commercialization potential.
