India Launches Nationwide HPV Vaccination Campaign for Cervical Cancer Prevention

India initiated a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign aiming to protect 1.15 crore girls aged 14 from cervical cancer, the second most prevalent cancer among women in the country. This campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ajmer, Rajasthan, offers the Gardasil-4 vaccine free of charge at government facilities. The vaccine is 93–100% effective against HPV strains responsible for cervical cancer. With this program, India joins over 160 countries advancing towards the global goal of eliminating cervical cancer.
