India Launches Ranking Framework for Cooperative Societies
The Ministry of Cooperation of India has introduced a Ranking Framework for evaluating primary cooperative societies across seven sectors, using the National Cooperative Database (NCD). Launched on January 24, 2025, this framework allows the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) of States and Union Territories to assess the societies based on audit compliance, financial performance, and operational activities among others. The initiative aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and competitive capability within cooperative societies, providing benchmarks for performance and sharing best practices across the sector. The information was disclosed by Union Minister Amit Shah in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
