India Meteorological Department Enhances Weather Monitoring in Tamil Nadu

The India Meteorological Department, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is enhancing its network of meteorological observatories in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The network includes 35 manual and 56 automatic weather stations along with 87 automatic rain gauges. Each district has 2 to 3 such stations on average, ensuring broad coverage and the provision of timely weather advisories for agricultural and safety purposes. New installations in the Perambalur constituency include an Automatic Weather Station and two Automatic Rain Gauges to facilitate better accuracy in weather forecasting and disaster preparedness.
