India Meteorological Department Expands Nationwide Weather Station Network
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has enhanced its coverage by installing multiple Doppler Weather Radars (DWRs) and Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) across the country. Despite minor delays due to site availability, the expanded network covers 92% of India's geographical area. IMD aims for comprehensive nationwide coverage with further installations planned under the Weather Information Network and Data System (WINDS) initiative.
