India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement: A Strategic Leap Forward
The newly operationalized Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman is set to transform bilateral trade relations, offering a duty-free access to 99.38% of India's exports to Oman. This agreement, marking a significant milestone in international trade for India, was signed in December 2025 and entered into force on June 1, 2026. It aims to boost trade, generate employment, and enhance India's role in the GCC and East African markets by eliminating tariffs on key sectors like agriculture, marine products, gems and jewellery, and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, it introduces significant trade facilitation measures, regulatory cooperation, and investment frameworks, positioning India as a stronger economic partner in the region.
