India marks a significant milestone with the successful technology transfer of "Bio-Bitumen via Pyrolysis: From Farm Residue to Roads," developed by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute and CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum. The innovative approach, showcased at a New Delhi event, aims to transform India's highways by reducing fossil fuel dependency through indigenous bio-bitumen. This initiative, lauded as a major step towards a circular economy, holds the potential to replace ₹25,000–30,000 crore of imported bitumen annually and addresses environmental challenges like stubble management and pollution reduction.
