India Proceeds with Development of Fishing Harbours
The Indian Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is advancing the development of 379 designated fish landing centers, leveraging financial support from national initiatives such as Blue Revolution, FIDF, and PMMSY. Over the period of five years from FY2020-21 to FY2024-25, the government endorsed 26 fishing harbour and 22 landing centre projects, with a substantial portion benefiting states like Tamil Nadu. These efforts aim to enhance harbour infrastructure for local fishermen by introducing modern facilities and implementing site-specific feasibility studies.
