India Promotes Eco-Friendly Agriculture Through National Mission on Natural Farming
The Indian government, with the approval of the Union Cabinet, has launched the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) aimed at encouraging chemical-free farming methods rooted in traditional Indian practices. The initiative plans to establish 15,000 clusters covering an area of 7.5 Lakh hectares and engage 18.75 lakh farmers, while also educating 1 crore farmers on Natural Farming methods. As part of the mission, 10,000 Bio-input Resource Centres will be set up to facilitate easy access to natural farming inputs like Jeevamrit and Beejamrit. Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare continues to implement the Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme, enhancing water efficiency for micro-irrigation systems, recording coverage of over 106.75 lakh hectares of farmland across the country.
