India Reinforces Mental Healthcare Services
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India is taking substantial steps to enhance mental healthcare services across the country. The initiative includes implementing the District Mental Health Programme in 767 districts and integrating comprehensive mental health services into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. With the launch of the National Tele Mental Health Programme, the government is offering 24/7 tele-mental health counselling services, making mental health care accessible nationwide. The move aims to provide equitable and affordable mental healthcare, supported by Centres of Excellence to bolster tertiary care and student education in mental health specialties.
