India Releases New Consumer Price Index Based on 2024 Data

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has launched the new Consumer Price Index (CPI) with the base year 2024=100, reflecting updated household consumption patterns derived from the 2023–24 Household Consumption Expenditure Survey. This revision introduces a more detailed classification system and includes new items such as digital media services, to provide a more comprehensive measure of inflation.
