India Removes 18 Monuments from Protected Status

The Centre Government of India has delisted 18 monuments from the list of Protected Monuments as they are no longer deemed of national importance, according to the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. This decision was disclosed by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, the Gyan Bharatam Mission has digitized over 7.5 lakh manuscripts, making 1.29 lakh available on its portal. Additionally, security has been strengthened at key heritage sites including the Red Fort and Taj Mahal, with support from Multi-Tasking Staff and CISF personnel.
