India Revamps ITI Training with Mandatory On-the-Job Training
The Directorate General of Training under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, has introduced a mandatory 150-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) or Group Project for ITI trainees. This initiative, which started in the academic 2022-23 session, aims to enhance the employability of trainees by aligning their skills with industry requirements. This reform, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, intends to deepen industry-institution linkages and ensure trainees are job-ready.
