India Spearheads Mission to Enhance Climate Monitoring
In response to the increasing threats posed by extreme weather events, India's Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is modernizing its climate monitoring and weather forecasting systems through the central sector scheme Mission Mausam. This initiative, supported by a 2,000 crore budget, aims to improve high-resolution weather prediction capabilities and enhance the country’s readiness against climate change impacts. The use of advanced satellite and AI technologies, as well as new improved Doppler Weather Radars, form the core of these developments.
