India Strengthens Quantum Technology Drive with New Mission Initiatives

The Government of India is spearheading the advancement of quantum technologies through the National Quantum Mission (NQM), with a financial outlay of ₹6,003.65 crore over eight years. This initiative fosters research, development, and deployment of quantum technologies across multiple hubs established in premier institutes including IISc Bengaluru, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, and IIT Delhi. Complementing NQM, the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) supports the Technology Innovation Hub at IISER Pune, promoting infrastructure for development and training in quantum technologies. Strategic partnerships and educational programs are being rolled out to cultivate a skilled workforce, support start-ups, and enhance domestic technology production, aiming to position India as a leader in the quantum technology sector.
