India to Bolster Cooperative Movement with New PACS and Fisheries Societies
The Government of India has embarked on an initiative to expand the cooperative sector to new levels by launching a plan to establish new multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, and fisheries cooperatives. Through the convergence of existing governmental schemes, the initiative aims to set up these cooperatives in all villages across the country over the next five years. The plan involves various agencies including the National Cooperative Development Corporation and the National Dairy Development Board. A structured implementation strategy has been laid, involving several committees and detailed procedural guidelines. The move is expected to deepen the cooperative movement's reach, impacting grassroots development significantly.
