India Unveils ₹1 Lakh Crore RDI Fund to Boost Innovation
The Indian government has introduced a ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) fund to enhance private sector engagement in the nation's innovation ecosystem, with a focus on frontier technologies like AI, biotechnology, and clean energy. Announced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister for Science and Technology, during the India International Science Festival 2025, the fund aims to bridge the gap between research and market-ready technologies. It will operate through a professional structure, managed by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation and other specialized agencies, offering long-term, low-interest financing for projects nearing commercial deployment. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote technological self-reliance and establish India as a global inventor and exporter of advanced technologies.
