India Unveils First Hydrogen-Powered Train Set, Aiming for Sustainable Railways

India's Ministry of Railways has completed the manufacturing of its first indigenously designed hydrogen-powered train set, marking a significant advancement in sustainable rail technologies. This project, part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, features the world's most powerful 2400 kW hydrogen train set on a broad gauge platform. A hydrogen production plant based on the electrolysis process is being established in Jind to supply the hydrogen needed for the train. The train, which emits only water vapor, represents a major step towards greener transportation solutions in India. The initiative highlights Indian Railways' commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing alternative energy options in the industry.
