India Unveils National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme
The Government of India has sanctioned the National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme, allocating ₹2254.43 crore for the 2024-29 timeline. This initiative aims to bolster forensic facilities and includes plans for eight new Central Forensic Science Laboratories. Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs is addressing existing staffing gaps in these labs through contractual hires and updated recruitment procedures. Additionally, the National Forensic Sciences University, established in 2020, continues to support workforce development through its annual Forensic Aptitude and Calibre Test (FACT).
