Indian Cabinet Sanctions Census of India 2027 with Advanced Digital Systems
The Indian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned the Census of India 2027, projected to cost Rs. 11,718.24 crore. This will be the first fully digital census, implementing new technologies like mobile apps for data collection and a dedicated management portal. It will occur in two phases: the Houselisting and Housing Census in mid-2026, followed by Population Enumeration in February 2027. Approximately 30 lakh field workers will be deployed, and the process will provide comprehensive data for policy-making. Furthermore, the initiative aims to enhance employment, engaging 18,600 technical personnel for digital data management and monitoring.
