Indian Government Enacts Reforms for Enhanced Network Security

The Indian Government has strengthened network security and data protection laws through measures like the Telecommunication Act, 2023 and Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. New mandatory requirements for CCTV systems and a directive against procuring non-compliant equipment aim to bolster cybersecurity. Further, the government has blocked 652 mobile applications over data security concerns, adhering to the IT Act, 2000. Complementary initiatives include cybersecurity audits by CERT-In and updated guidelines for secure software, hardware, and emerging technologies.
