Indian Government Enhances Journalist Welfare and Raises Advertisement Rates
The Government of India has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of journalists by providing them and their families access to the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities. This includes treatment at government and CGHS-empanelled private hospitals at CGHS rates. The Journalist Welfare Scheme (JWS) is also in place to offer financial aid, particularly in severe cases such as the death or disability of journalists. Additionally, the Central Bureau of Communications has increased print media advertisement rates by 26%. This information was disclosed by the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, in response to inquiries in the Lok Sabha.
