Indian Government Enhances Refinery Capacity and Green Fuel Initiatives

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, led by Shri Suresh Gopi, outlines plans to boost India's refinery capacity from 258.1 MMTPA to 309.5 MMTPA by 2030, while increasing the Petrochemical Intensity Index to approximately 9.3. Key initiatives include a 20% ethanol blend goal, the PM JI-VAN Yojana for advanced biofuels, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission targeting 5 MMTPA by 2030. These efforts support India's transition to cleaner fuels, reducing emissions, and advancing towards a low-carbon economy in line with climate goals.
