Indian Government Expands Funding to Boost R&D Initiatives
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) reports an increase in public and private R&D expenditure in India, which more than doubled from Rs. 60,197 crore in 2010-11 to Rs.1,27,381 crore in 2020-21. Enhanced budget allocations have strengthened the country's research capacity and infrastructure, supported by targeted programs and fellowships. The government is also encouraging private sector and industry-academia collaboration with initiatives like the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation Fund and other missions.
