Indian Government Promotes Tribal Homestays for Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism in India has launched guidelines to develop homestays in tribal areas under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PMJUGA). This initiative, part of the Swadesh Darshan scheme, aims to boost responsible tourism and support tribal communities by offering financial incentives to upgrade and create homestays. The government plans to facilitate up to ₹5 lakh for community needs, new rooms, and renovations, alongside offering collateral-free Mudra Loans to aid homestay establishment nationwide.
