Indian Government Strengthens Cooperative Movement Across Panchayats
The Indian Government has launched a comprehensive plan to bolster the cooperative movement and expand its reach to grassroots levels. Through the convergence of various existing schemes, the initiative aims to establish and reinforce Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), as well as dairy and fisheries cooperatives in every panchayat and village across the country. This five-year plan, supported by multiple national development bodies, has already seen significant progress, with over 30,000 new cooperatives registered and many existing ones strengthened. The move aims to enhance the cooperative sectors like dairy and fisheries, particularly in regions like Odisha.
