Indian Ministry of Tourism Launches Revamped Swadesh Darshan Scheme to Promote Sustainable Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism in India has revamped the Swadesh Darshan scheme, now Swadesh Darshan 2.0, focusing on sustainable and responsible tourism development. The initiative aims to enhance tourism amenities and infrastructure across cultural and eco-tourism areas in India. The Ministry also introduced a sub-scheme, Challenge Based Destination Development, with 36 sanctioned projects to further boost tourism attraction. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities and enhance tourist experiences. Concurrently, the Scheme for Capacity Building for Service Providers aims to train and certify local tourism service providers, supporting employability. The total budget allocation for these initiatives in 2025-26 exceeds ₹2500 Crore.
