Indian Navy to Commission First Indigenous Diving Support Vessel 'Nistar'

The Indian Navy is set to commission its first indigenous Diving Support Vessel (DSV) named 'Nistar' on July 18, 2025, at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. Designed and constructed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, the vessel will support deep-sea diving and submarine rescue operations. With over 80% indigenous content and contributions from 120 MSMEs, 'Nistar' reflects India's commitment to self-reliance in defense production. The ship features advanced diving systems, medical facilities, and a dynamic positioning system, enhancing the Navy's operational capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.
