Indian Railways has recorded a 170% increase in cement transportation over the past four months due to reforms initiated last year. These changes included the introduction of bulk cement tank containers and a bulk cement terminal policy to streamline and encourage rail-based logistics over road transport. This efficiency gains in logistics have translated to cheaper construction materials, aiding affordable housing initiatives. Following the ongoing success with cement, efforts have now shfited towards tapping into the fly ash transportation market.
