Indian Railways Achieves Landmark Growth with Record Freight and Modernization

In FY 2025–26, Indian Railways made significant progress across multiple areas including record freight handling of 1,670 million tonnes, increased passenger services, rapid infrastructure expansion, and advancements in technology and safety with indigenous systems. The organization continues to support economic activity and enhance connectivity with about 25,000 daily train operations, special services during peak periods, and improvements under schemes like Amrit Bharat and Gati Shakti. Reinforcing the 'Make in India' initiative, Indian Railways produced 1,674 locomotives and 6,677 LHB coaches.
