Indian Railways Achieves Milestone in Electrification and Sustainability

The Indian Railways has achieved significant progress in its electrification efforts, leading to a substantial reduction in diesel consumption. By 2024-25, electrification of about 99.4% of the Broad Gauge network was completed, saving 178 crore liters of diesel compared to 2016-17, thereby achieving a 62% reduction. This move aligns with India's environmental goals and reduces its dependency on crude oil imports. Additionally, measures for waste management and enhancing passenger amenities are being implemented to improve sustainability and user experience.
