Indian Railways Boosts Safety with Tripled ROB/RUB Construction

The Indian Railways has significantly enhanced its focus on safety by tripling the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) over the last decade. The construction jumped from 4,148 in the period 2004-2014 to 13,653 from 2014 to October 2025. This leap is attributed to joint surveys, standardized designs, and single-entity execution strategies. However, delays remain in states like West Bengal and Telangana owing to state government cooperation issues. The comprehensive plan includes tackling factors like land acquisition and design approvals to expedite project completion, as highlighted by the Union Minister for Railways in a recent address.
