Indian Railways Electrifies Challenging Sakleshpur–Subramanya Ghat Section
Indian Railways has completed the electrification of the Sakleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat Section, one of the most challenging terrains on its network. This marks a significant engineering achievement and connects the entire Bengaluru-Mangaluru rail route. The 55 km stretch features a steep gradient, numerous tunnels, and bridges, posing considerable engineering challenges. This electrification will enable Vande Bharat and other electric trains, enhancing connectivity and operational efficiency. With more than 99% of the broad gauge network electrified, Indian Railways is on track to have one of the largest fully electrified networks globally, emphasizing sustainability and reduced carbon emissions.
