Indian Railways Enhance Passenger Amenities with ₹34,000 Crore Allocation

The Ministry of Railways has allocated over ₹34,000 crore in the past three years to improve passenger amenities and manage crowds at Indian Railway stations. This funding supports various initiatives such as developing 23 permanent holding areas across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh out of a total of 76 stations. Advanced facilities like AI-enabled CCTV cameras, wider foot-over-bridges, war rooms, and digital communication equipment are being deployed across major stations including Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Bandra Terminus, and Lucknow to ensure smoother passenger flow and safety. Additionally, new identification systems and uniforms for staff, expanded access control, and the empowerment of Station Directors in managing capacity and ticket sales have been implemented to better manage high passenger volumes, especially during festive seasons.
