Indian Railways Enhances Non-AC Travel for Low & Middle Income Families

The Ministry of Railways has committed to improving travel for low and middle-income families by increasing the availability of non-AC coaches and introducing modern Amrit Bharat trains. With 78% of seats and 70% of coaches being non-AC, the initiative aims to provide affordable and comfortable travel options. Over the next five years, 17,000 new non-AC general/sleeper coaches will be introduced, enhancing safety and accessibility with features like CCTV, LED lights, and improved crashworthiness.
