Indian Railways Expands Services with 1,024 New Trains Over Five Years

To meet rising passenger demand, Indian Railways has introduced 1,024 new train services, extended 907 routes, increased train frequency on 168 routes, and added 4,651 coaches over the past five years. The network also operated 74,800 special train trips for festivals and vacations between April 2025 and February 2026. Efforts are ongoing to enhance services for unreserved non-AC passengers, including manufacturing 17,000 non-AC coaches and rationalizing waiting list limits.
