Indian Railways Intensifies Safety Measures with Extensive Fencing Project

The Indian Railways has initiated extensive safety fencing measures along vulnerable routes, covering a total of 16,398 km across various zones, including the North Central, South Central, and Western Railway Zones. These efforts are aimed at preventing trespassing and ensuring safe train operations on routes with speeds exceeding 110 kmph. The project also involves construction of pedestrian subways and fencing along the Lonavala-Pune-Daund route, with 150 km out of the planned 290 km completed under a sanctioned budget of ₹209.38 crore.
