India's Agenda for Climate-Resilient Agriculture

The Government of India, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has embarked on several initiatives to fortify climate-resilient agriculture. Key projects include the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, which encompasses the Per Drop More Crop scheme for water efficiency, Rainfed Area Development for climate risk mitigation, and Soil Health & Fertility for nutrient management. Additionally, under the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture project, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is conducting risk assessments and deploying adaptive farming technologies in climate-vulnerable districts. New schemes aim to align existing agricultural policies with digital transformation, soil and water conservation, and sustainable farming, ensuring optimal resource utilization and reduced environmental footprints.
