India's Ambitious Nuclear Energy Mission for 2047
The Government of India announced plans to substantially increase the country's nuclear power capacity from 8.78 GW to 100 GW by 2047 as part of the Nuclear Energy Mission. This plan includes commissioning new reactors and fostering public and private sector involvement. A major part of the expansion involves domestic Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors and Light Water Reactors, alongside a new law, the SHANTI Act, to facilitate broader participation in the sector.
