India's Census-2027 to Go Digital with New Tools and Mascots
The Government of India is set to conduct the world's largest census, Census-2027, with a focus on digital processes, including Self-Enumeration. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched digital tools and mascots named Pragati and Vikas to promote the exercise, aiming for gender equality in data collection and India's progression towards a developed nation by 2047. The census will be conducted in two phases using advanced digital platforms developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
