India's Coal and Mineral Sectors Transforming for Sustainable Growth

Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, announced a historic transformation in India's coal and mineral sectors, achieving over 1 billion tonnes of coal production in 2024-25. With a projected demand of 1.6 billion tonnes by 2030, the government is focusing on sustainability through initiatives like the Coal Gasification Mission and diversification into renewables. The Minister highlighted significant mining reforms, including the auction of 542 mineral blocks and the onboarding of private exploration agencies, while also emphasizing India's global mineral diplomacy and strategic stockpiling efforts.
