India's coal production in May 2025 reached 86.24 MT, up from 83.96 MT in May 2024, reflecting the Ministry of Coal's efforts for operational stability. Captive/commercial mines contributed 16.93 MT, a rise from 13.83 MT last year. Coal stock increased by 29.18% to 122.69 MT, indicating a significant boost in production. The Ministry aims for sustainable growth and reduced import dependence, highlighting the coal sector's role in India's economic development.
