India's Commitment to WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy at WHA 2025
At the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Traditional Medicine systems as part of an integrated healthcare approach. Shri Arindam Bagchi, India's Permanent Representative, welcomed the new WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034, emphasizing India's integration of modern medicine with traditional systems like Ayurveda and Yoga. The establishment of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Gujarat and a recent Donor Agreement with WHO to develop a Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions were highlighted as key contributions. India aims to support WHO's efforts in promoting evidence-based traditional healthcare globally.
