India's Dairy Sector Strengthened by White Revolution 2.0

The Ministry of Cooperation in India has launched White Revolution 2.0 to address the challenges faced by the unorganised dairy sector, such as adulteration and exploitation of farmers. This initiative has resulted in the registration of 22,332 Multipurpose Dairy Cooperative Societies by the end of 2025, with 20,104 being operational. White Revolution 2.0 aims to enhance sustainability and circularity while expanding cooperative coverage, improving milk procurement, and promoting value addition, employment, and women's empowerment. Despite the progress, there is no study comparing income changes for marginal farmers who joined the cooperatives.
