India's press and media ecosystem has seen significant growth, with the number of registered publications increasing from 1.05 Lakh in 2014-15 to 1.55 Lakh in 2024-25, and private satellite TV channels rising from 821 to 908. The DD Free Dish now offers 92 private and 50 Doordarshan channels in various regional languages, enhancing outreach. The expansion is part of the Broadcasting Infrastructure & Network Development (BIND) Scheme 2021-26, which includes new transmitters in Himachal Pradesh.
